I’m researching a beatific (cost vs quality) small business telephone system. Have some ideas?
The mass features are a must:
- Transfer
- Intercom (between phones)
- Intercom (overhead speakers)
- Expandable up to at small 12 extensions (I’d same at small 15)
I’d *like* the following:
- Music on hold
- The knowledge to wager which phones line are existence used (or wager what extensions are on the phone)
- Speed dial
- Ability to use right winkle feature to designate to right phones (be able to winkle the CO Line)
There’s no requirements on assist of setup– I’ll pay 300 hours if I requirement to put something beatific in. My budget is around $1500.
Any suggestions?

Try a Nortstar keysystem probably be the closet to what your lookin for.
If you use one of these you might need to setup a seperate pageing system but that should still be with in budget. As far as phones they might run you a little more than what your expecting to pay.
Our phones at work are Lucent and we’ve had minimal problems with them. We don’t have as many lines as you have but we can set up any extension to have voice mail, one extension has been designated to roll over to a pager when emergency calls come in, and we’re able to use either a radio station as on-hold music or a pre-recorded CD stating info about our business. I’m providing a link so you can check out the different phones available. Good luck!
I’d suggest a good refurbished Toshiba DK16 or DK40… The Toshiba DK system is a very high quality system. By buying a good refurbishied system you can get the quality you need and price you want. Both systems have all the features you need. Both are easly configured for 16 extentions. The cost will depend on how many phones you need. An example: a DK40 configured for 8 telephone lines and 16 stations with 6 10-button speakerphone telephones would cost about $1,250.00. By the time you bought some speakers for your external paging, wire, jacks, etc., you’d spend around $1,500.00. I’m assuming you’d install and program the system yourself. If your interested in a system like this let me know.
